Benny that is the beauty of being a car lover, i recon if we all had an unlimited beddy build account i recon we would all do at least one custom job. I wish i had a parent to leave me a beddy or 10. lol You had better work on getting a big block of land ben to kep them all on.  ;D ;D

I completely agree, its as much and MORE about being unique as it is about being custom.
Custom is great amongst the general public, as they know no better so they misinterpret it for being unique.
However, Unique is just that. Car buffs, connoisseurs, and other owners can spot it from a mile off.

I have 2 of which that irk me.. ZB tail lights, I get alot of compliments from the general public as being a great change from the norm - and they're right. Though about 50% of the vans from the 70's have them. they look great, but i WILL change them.
The XC grille, looks awesome, and most of the general public talk about it like no one has ever even thought of doing such a thing.. but we all know how common it is.. I WILL be changing this too.

Not everyone is as adamant as I am, but if I wanted to drive the same car as everyone else I'd buy a commodore

I'm in Ben's camp. If it's a tried and true conversion and works well then why not use it. I just don't see the point of re-inventing the wheel unless of course it can be improved upon or you have endless scree's of cash that you really have nothing else to spend it on. There are many places you can add a touch of your own personality.

Maybe the difference lies in that I'm building my van for me. I want something that is as reliable as possible and I am happy driving and I have loved vans since my teens. I really don't give a crap what anyone else thinks. Always appreciate the good comments and constructive criticism don't get me wrong but as far as I'm concerned if you don't like what I'm doing don't tell me because I'm not even remotely interested.

Hey Rogue, and outriding, you are dead right, they dont fit, we spent a wasted day trying, and they could of, but would of looked s**t house, so i did not run with them. I just thought we could do a photoshop to see what i missed out on. I now have settled for a new set of lights and they look good, not mickey mouse, but i like them as a plan B. Here is why they did not fit.

george.

what about putting them slightly lower and upside down George?
might fit the body contour a bit better.

hey mty, we looked at all that, but they were never going to fit, but i did learn one thing from the experience, i spent 2 yrs looking for the right lights, i thought i had done all the research i could do, so i bought them. But what i learn't was this, i should of grabbed a cheap one from the wrecker, because untill we had the light against the body we did not take into account the subtle little curves and contours. Lesson learn't.

Hey rogue, your vans body mods are a one off, and they are great, and like mine i like what i have done, and i am going to enjoy it.

Hey rossie, i also have the latest cruiser, i assume the 2 clowns near you have the same as me, in my case i got mine because after my violent crash that took my legs i wanted something big and safe, for me it's a mental thing, my problem.  I had to replace my first truck that i got after the crash, bet this is original here in oz. I got my licence renewed in the hummer, you should of seen the instructors face when i rolled up in it, he was in a little toyota prius, we could of tossed his car in the back, and still had room, he told me it was one lesson he would remember for a while, first double amputee to drive a hummer.   ;)

Hey George....did you think of frenching them in.....that way you can make the mounts to the correct curve
but still maintain the original Beddie outer curve?

Hey kimbo, we did for about a minute, forget why we did'nt, could of been because they were such massive big lights. With the new lights we are frenching them in.  I think they will look good when finished. With customising it is all trial and error, these lights come with their own mounting frame, so it was easier, so far i have seen these lights on 2 vehicles, and they look ok. All going well, next time my sheet metal guy is here they will be done and dusted.
