Bedford/Holden temp gauge

I took my standard van for a blat today, was fun until it blew it's top. The water pump and half the hoses were blocked solid, hopefully no head damage.

Question: Do the Ozzie 6 cly bedfords use the original bedford temp gauge with holden sender (recalibrated), bedford sender with bedford gauge or holden gauge and sender ?

i dont know!!!!! but im interested to find out..

ive always just grabbed senders off other motors n stuff so i asume its standard holden sender.. and im not sure if the guage is holden or bedford.. only because i know the temp guages that came with the 71 - 74's looked different?? mind you so did the fuel guage.. so go figure!!

an aftermarket gauge is pretty cheap and well worth it

last time i bought an aftermarket one it was flippen 50 bucks!! didnt think that was very cheap eh!! lucky it wasnt for my van lol

Standard Holden sender, Bedford guage, don't neet to recalibrate.

thats weird, currently I have holden sender and bedford gauge (81 beddie model) and the red is when the thermostat opens

Sender 1980 holden, Gauge 1980 Bedford, works fine check themo, Replaced it with a 1981 mk 2 once did not work, the gauge is Bedford for sure as I have a second guage here and it's the same. Van was shipped in new from Aussie cab and chassie with 202. You could also replace you gauge with a smith one they are calibrated very close to the Beddie as they where made around the eighties and we used to fit many of these to our custom dash's when  I worked in this field and all worked fine. If all fails just get year and model of Holderen Motor and fit the guage from same car, problemed solved I guess.

For anyone else that may have the problem of the temp gauge going into the red ... the fault/reason was a stuffed voltage stabilizer

yeh please busy explain!!! i spent 2 hours trying to fix my temp guage.. knew it was electronic.. and i hooked an earth to the wrong place.. and now?? its all over..  ive fryed something.. hope its the stupid voltage stabilizer!!

where do i find this rodent?

ive since bought a mechanical temp guage to get me by while i fix the other.. actually i think ill use both. cant hurt.

It's behind the dash, is a rounded rectangle in shape and has 3 wires coming of it; earth, gauges (temp and fuel) and live from fuse box.

I'm going to have to pull my dash out soon to replace the speedo inner so will try and get a photo of it.
