sand blaster reviews melbourne??
« on: June 24, 2013, 01:49:14 PM »
hi, been searching the forum but can not find good reviews. can someone please help me out? have been trying to find a good sand blaster who does not warp panels or charge through the roof. have been quoted over $4000 for the body and front doors from the blast factory, been looking at shops which charge a lot less probably $1000-$2000  but can not find reviews of their work. at the moment talking to chris from Yarra Valley Blast Cleaning who apparently does amazing work. anyone out there who can recommend a place around melbourne or even better brunswick. cheers

O'k, for my 2 cents worth! i would never EVER have a beddie sandblasted - the heat generated using this process would have a bad effect on such large panels and would no doubt end up warping them - i am sure there are amazing operators out there that are both careful and well qualified, but good luck finding them.

I am on my second Beddie and on both occasions i have had them soda blasted - this is a very effective paint removal process which can be done with all of your door and window rubbers intact (if you want to go that way) there is no warpage and the soda itself leaves a film which gives you a little time before the rust starts to appear - unlike sand blast where if you touch the panel - rust will start to appear in a matter of hours.

To do my latest beady, which you can see in my gallery, was $2200.00 bux roughly the same as my first one (also in my gallery) the guys name is Dean and he works down at Crib Point - if you want his number, drop me a pm and i'll be happy to pass it on.

Hope this helps

Cheers

Your better off blasting the solid edges of the pannels up to a foot out from edge.
And paintstripping the last center unsupported parts of the pannels
Thats how i blast large pannels
No warpage that way.

The guy who sandblasted my van had never done a van before, he spends his days sandblasting earth moving machines, but he's a car nut and used common sense and I got no warpage at all, I even tried to talk him into doing the roof panel (was off the van) but he wouldn't as he reckoned it would warp for sure, even some extra $ wouldn't get him to do it - I doubt it would of warped, but he knew what he was doing
There are so many people out there who will tell you that you can't. What you've got to do is turn around and say "watch me"

I use PK SAND BLASTING , here in Ballarat. Frankie is very good and has a 15-20 years on the job. Might be to far away from you.
make it reliable, or smash it with a big hammer
