I'm not going to say anything about the chevy/holden thing

*whsipers*
bore a 350 out 30 thou and you got a 355, stroke the 350 and you got a rat 383 engine
*stops whispering*

but if I did I'd go along with whats been said and say chevy is the better deal ;)
There are so many people out there who will tell you that you can't. What you've got to do is turn around and say "watch me"

Hi atk1,
Have got a 253  (out of a HZ red motor) in Alien8, attached to a trimatic, and chev caprice diff, (2.77 ratio). Goes alright when you finally get it wound up.  Its getting a 308 next year and a ford diff, with a better ratio.  The advantage with the 253 or 308 is that it sits on the same engine mounts as the 6 cyl.  Yes I think the chev is a narrower engine but you have to get different engine mounts made and then engineer reports.

Yep you are right have already got engineer report for 253, HQ discs, and different diff.  What I should have said was that you won,t have to get the report on the engine mounts as you don,t have to change them.  My mistake :-[

Mounting the engine is the least of your worries, they care alot more about your brakes but with a hq disc brake upgrade as long as it's installed properly should make them happy.  When I engineer my LWB chev I have to engineer engine, brakes, gearbox, diff and hopefully power steering it's going to cost an arm and a leg.
