Hi All, Intro
« on: November 27, 2012, 11:15:08 AM »
Hi All,

Long time reader first time forum. This 40yro nut job has just purchased himself a beddy. It's already overheated on a highway too! My plans are to restore it, but I'll settle for registration. I'm Sydney based and looking forward to working on my beddy once it is delivered via flat bed. My names Guy and hope to pick your collective brains... i'm after a couple of things, but will post in appropriate area.

I've attached a pic, if you've been a previous owner let us know. I'd like to know more about it.

Thanks.
Guy.

G'day Guy, welcome aboard.

I used to work at Heinz n Dandenong back in 1978 and this van was owned by a guy called Dennis (i'm sure that was it) . He was a ripper bloke and really knew his stuff about cars. i recall at one time he was looking at tyres for this beddy and was calculating diameter / height / width / revolutions vs wall height and rim diameter to see which would be the best value for money - really went into things. Now if my memory serves me right - he sent the van to Vancraft in Dandenong who fitted the xc front to it (i think the flares and bubble windows were already done) at that time it was a really nice blue with a silver highlight - nice job. He also owned an xw gt replica at the time which was stolen and torched and cut to pieces. He then went on to buy an xy gt ho phase 3 factory genuine - beautiful car. probably still got it!

Anyway, that the extent of my knowledge - hope it helps!

Awesome Mezzmo. I was wondering what the headlights were from - I was thinking Cortina. Definately has a unique body kit on it and I would definately prefer blue with silver highlights. Ah, more importantly I want to confirm details about the disc brake conversion. There is isn't any paperwork with the van and I'm assuming HQ master cylinder and discs. Or if the diff's been changed for that matter too.

Anyways, cheers for that.
Guy.
May the force and lug nuts be with me.

Thanks Wendyh, um I really like your van's colour and what you have done with it. What is the name of Purple used? Regent purple, platinum purple or plum crazy...I've been looking into purples for a while now. :) but most of them seem too dark. Also what seats did you use. It's definately a benchmark beddy.
May the force and lug nuts be with me.

The interior's being stripped at the moment, but I'll definately post when things get a little restored. Ah, this van is in really bad shape with rust....it's a moving ore deposit.  :(
