New Project
« on: October 10, 2012, 12:46:43 PM »
G`day all.
Just joined this great site . Very envious at the moment :)  .
Have stumbled on to a `74 Bedford CJ campervan that needs a new home. Can pick it up for about $1000 .
Will I have probs getting spares for her?  Needs brakes among other things . The body isn,t too bad , just a bit of surface rust but needs new rubber around roof lid.
It has a Holden 186 motor , manual gearbox .
What is the difference between a CF and a CJ ?
What sort of fuel mileage / cruising speed can I expect ?
Any assist much appreciated .
Cheers , Bob.

looking through different sites I can find
CJ
GJ
AND CL  bedford campers
on the uk bedford site it says the CL camper body is mounted on a CF cab/chassis
so we can ony assume that all the other combos are also refering to the camper body as we all know it is a CF cab/chassis underneath
If you like it do it, If you like it a lot do it a lot!

Thanks for the welcome.
I,m confused ( more than normal :) ).
Seems like mine,s a CF . It has CJ on the plate under the bonnet but when I pick it up will post some pics .
I could need new wheel cylinders and/or slave cylinder . Where would be a good place to start looking .
Cheers , Bob.

Welcome Postie Bob!!

If looking for spares, try JB Auto in Dandenong, Melbourne, and you might find a few folk on here have numerous spares kicking around their (scrap)yard.

Other than that, I always keep an eye on ebay, especially the uk version. most vendors are happy to post overseas, just depends on if the overseas shipping is worth it!

Happy restoration!!

Al
