i have two vans here with piano type hinge.... the swb has a top door and a lower with a panel between
and the parts van has two , a top and bottom , but open to be a full size opening

                                                                                                                                        correctmundo petrol; XJ6 rims n hubbies , but pissed off the jag heads for griffin heads instead, ...aawww u mean my hinge isnt off a grand..... was gonna tell people it was a "frankenstein hinge"  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D

Here's the relevant section regarding door hinges from the NZ Technical Manual. From what I read size matters. As long as the hinge is big enough it should be OK.
