Vent maybe???
« on: March 21, 2013, 08:53:38 PM »
Hi Folks, I have only recently noticed that on the firewall, on the passenger side of my van, there is what looks to me like a round vent with a flap. I have to physically push on it for it to open but it doesn't seal very well. My question is do all CF's have this, and was it once hooked up to a cable or lever? It doesn't really make sense because wouldn't that allow engine fumes into the cabin? Was it ducted through to the grill perhaps?

any chance of a photo, doesn't sound normal, unless it's the early mk1 heater/vent (round plate with a hinge rectangle going up and down) as the early ones didn't have a heater as such, just a vent and ducting
There are so many people out there who will tell you that you can't. What you've got to do is turn around and say "watch me"

My truck had the same.....if you have a slotted bonned [vented] there is a scoop that carries air from it to a collector box. There was no heater in mine as there was only one slider on the dash that was open or closed. As it collected the air from a duct under the bonnet, it did not pick up any engine fumes. I think it was just a demister thingee.....but i guess you would have to be moving for it to work

sounds like mine .. the vents in the bonnet went into a ducting to the heater hole .. mine has a fan inside the duct
