Melbourne Based Mechanic?

Hi there,

So my first van arrived today via freight and i am stocked! I am very keen to get it on the road as soon as possible. Can anyone help me out with a local to melbourne mechanic as i need a roady done for registration. The van has a SA roady but of course needing a vicco one.

Just want to find someone reasonably priced and that knows what they are doing.

i know it sounds crazy but your probably better off getting someone who doesnt know what he's doing reguarding bedfords or you could be in for a nightmare just to get the roadworthy ticket! 

eg i took a van to my roadworthy bloke that knows bedfords. he said instantly where are the gutters? needs engineering. what about the trany mounts? needs engineering.

i took it to someone who didnt know and those items passed cause the bloke had no idea what they did have originally..


dont forget bedford about 35 years old. got lots of stuff custom made to fit to keep her running oftern supposed to be engineered or taken back to standard:( by the book!

Well Monday will be the day! 

I will officially be driving my Beddy down to vic roads with a roady and getting new plates and she will be on the road! my own ROCKET QUEEN!

She has been down with Joe in Dandy for 5 weeks :S drama after drama but we got there!

She gets sprayed next week - using the john deer black blitz paint from can. wondering if anyone has had experience with this paint or similar and how many cans would i be needing.

can not wait to join all you others in feb for the vicco cruise :D:D:D:D

Cans.. That'll cost you a small fortune. I reckon you'd need about 20-30 of them for a swb. Buy a tin of gmh black acrylic, a cheap 50$ spray gun and borrow a compressor off someone, or rent one for the day. Still come in cheaper, and you'll have yourself a spray gun; or buy a second hand belt driven compressor, that might all add up to the same price but hey at least you got some painting gear for down the track when ya wanna paint something else. Compressors are very handy. Oh yeah ya need a hose too

bring some paint and do a road trip to my place.. im an expert at spraying carsb without masking up:) ill have your van done in 2 hours, paints garenteed to last till the end of the day. warenty void if you drive over 100kms per hour on the way home:)

hahaha. im got 2 guns and compressor i can use off a mate. Joe has delayed pick up again till mid week its been so long but at least i know its done.
