Hi from Central VIC

Hi Guys and Girls,

Phil here, new member from the Wedderburn/Charlton area of Victoria. I have not bought a Beddy yet, but think I am about to!

It is a 1979 CF Cab/Chassis with a camper body (Jayco or similar). Basically good condition for a 32 year old van with probably a trillion Kms under the wheels. It has a Red 202 and Traumatic box. Petrol/LPG. (I think the tank is out of date... the RWC will tell no doubt..)

The guy selling it (Hi Geoff if you are out there reading this...LOL) has a price on it which I have no idea is reasonable or not. It is registered and will go in for a RWC sometime in the next week or so when we can find someone to do it. Obviously whatever shows up in the RWC will be up for discussion, but what is a fair price for a 1979 CF Camper in fair to good nick for it's age...?

I am sure we will reach agreement, and I look forward to much fun with my new Beddy-mate. I believe in being totally fair in life. I don't want to insult the guy or rip him off, but I don't want to pay too much over the odds either.

30+ year old vehicles are alwas difficult to price. Any thoughts?

Thanks, and I am really looking forward to the forum, I am sure I will have lots of Q's and drive you all nuts!

Cheers, Phil

Hi Phil and welcome to BUGA

Price - well how long is a piece of string.

It all depends on how good a condition its in and how well its optioned out, and how much your prepared to pay.

My parents bought a 70's ford motor home for around $20K around 8 years ago. and they got value for money I think.

If you have a  look on ebay or the trading post you can get a feel for the price ranges of motor homes in general, relate that to what the beddy has and you have a bench mark.

I'm poor and wouldnt pay to much for one, but then again when you think of what you get for your dollar you have to ask "is it worth that much to ME??"

my guide would be - Roadworthy and registered with good gear - under $5k bargin, $5k to $10k cheap, $10 to $15 good value.

But thats just guessing

Warren
I used to be vague..................Now I'm not so sure

Hi Warren,
Thanks for that, it actually helps a lot.
As I said, it's in good condition "For a 30+ year old camper" that is, it isn't sparkly new, but it isn't really shabby either.
I am currently awaiting the owner doing an RWC, which at this time of the year is frustrating as most Testers are closed.
Anyway, patience is a virtue... Hahaha.
I am poor too, so I hope we can reach agreement. I will let you know how I go.
Thanks again,
Phil
