Just Bought a Beddy and want to change the Engine but need some advice

Hey All people with Beautiful vans and trucks

My name is Ryan I live on the northern beaches of Sydney and iv just bought a Blue 1974 Bedford van. Im a landscaper by trade but i also play in a band and i want to make this thing the ultimate road tripper for me and the guys i play with.
It currently has a red 202 engine that runs on LPG and petrol,  but she's way to slow on the open road, I have three different ideas in mind for a new engine
Turbo Dissel
Fuel injected v6 commodore

i want to have her running on either strait petrol or strait LPG  and the LPG tank can not go inside the van i need all the room i can get! I also want her to have air conditioning and power steering which she does not have now

So my question is what is the best and cheapest  way to go with the engines? and can i get custom made LPG tanks to fit under the van?

If anyone can help me with some good advice that would be great!!!!

are you sure its the engine???

you know that beddies come with standard and highway diffs?

does it scream over 80 kilometers and hour? if it does then you might have a standard beddie diff and you might just consider sourcing a highway diff.

Able is right, it is highly likely it is the diff ratio that is your problem.

With the gas, many gas places can source a tank that will fit under the van somewhere, there are better more expensive options, but i dont think you'd be too interested if you're doing it on a budget.

If you want to make it affordable for road trips, gas is the way to go. If you want to make it flexible for road trips, dual fuel is the go.

its true about the dual fuel flexibility...i did a road trip round tassie last year in my panel van... discovered no gas at all (hardly) down the east coast...didn't run too well on petrol (but it did run) i had to do some creative driving on that part of the trip...would've been stuffed otherwise....remember big country we live in

just add more gas tanks

what are gas joints like about tank size's under beddies? i know they would not put them under my mini van because of clearance issues but i have seen some 4x4' with tanks almost hitting the ground under the back.

i thought with the beddies ride height and the fact that they are tucked under (floor height compared to panel distance from the ground) that they would not have a issue with say the 100 lt tanks being installed where the petrol tank was and if you remove the battery cage you could have twins and say a 60 lt where the spare was?

hi there ive got a gas tank under my bedford in the rear between the leaf springs,also its an 80 litre tank and has plenty of road clearance
