« on: September 26, 2010, 04:23:05 PM »
ok i've been having some fun with the camper of late.. put in a holden 4 speed box & found out the reverse is stuffed whole van wants to throw the motor out in reverse.

the other thing is what are the sizes of the light & hevey single leaf springs. i have 3 sets off 3 cabs & all 3 diffrent sizes??? (thickness)  ??? one is at the eye 7-8mm & 27mm middle the next is 10mm eye end & 27mm middle the last 11mm eye & 25.5 middle.

any one know?? as in need some hevey springs & the ones i have on are light weight so i'm told.

That is really interesting, thank-you. I didn't know that the springs came in different weights.
My van was too hard in the back, and against all advise I ground them thinner.
It is better now, but needs more off.
I would have swapped with you as mine must have been 'heavys', but not any more.
Thanks for the measurements; you have given me something to work with.
Sorry I cannot be of help to you.

Thanks also for the information you gave on setting up your diff. It was a big help. ;D
Funny old life.

most of them are single leaf. some did have multi but none of mine were.

yeah the size of the leaf springs were for the diffrent modles. cf220, 230, 250, 280, 350 etc..

220 = 2.2t etc.. 350 = 3.5t

I'll try and remember to measure mine up tonight. I'll be getting rid of mine shortly.

Just had a measure.

Middle = 25.5mm
Eye = 11mm

As I said above mine are coming out shortly so you're welcome to try them if you like Jeff but I reckon yours would have been the same as mine because mine had exactly the same issues that you were describing although if you threw that load of firewood in the back it rode like a dream.

No idea what model sorry. Mines a SWB so not a dual wheel. Dug out the original registration papers and it lists the 'Gross Laden Weight' as 1990kg. Does that help?
