ignition switch
« on: November 03, 2010, 06:30:26 PM »
Does anyone know what other old pommy cars use the same ignition switch (not the keys and tumbler, the black plastic bit with the wires soldered on at the end of the tumbler)?

I finally had to put in a start button,
Pulled the switch apart about 6 months ago and built up the terminals with solder,
put it back together (prick of a job, very fiddly,if you ever pull one apart do it over a tray, those 2mm ball bearings are a @#$% to find),
Cracked the outer plastic case because the terminals were now too big......

But i got 6 months out of it.

Bought a cheap spring loaded button switch (wanted a blue LED one but i wanted one NOW more, oh well).
Cut the starter wire at the switch so it's still long enough to solder back on if i ever get a 'new' one,
Ran a wire back to the dash and one from the fusebox to the button....
Back in business.

Any thoughts on where i can get a new unit?
All those British cars share bits
