Hi vintageholden, question if you want to redrill the axels to suit HQ, are you keeping the bedford brakes and drums or going disc brakes.

Because, on a previous beddie I got rid of the beddie drums and brakes, and put HQ drums and brake shoes wheel cylinders onto the beddie diff housing, much easier to get than beddie ones.       Redrilled the axels to suit the HQ.  Had a mate who built trailers and had a suitable drill stand.  Knock out the beddie studds, place the HQ drum on the axel move the drum around until you are clear of the old stud holes  a spot weld on the drum to hold it in place then redrilled the axels and replaced with new studds., not that difficult.  From memory the drum fits straight onto the centre of the beddie axel.     Also kept a spare redrilled axel in the van, just in case.
If you want to put HQ drums on you have to use a HK backing plate because its got a bigger offset than the HQ and the HQ internals will fit.  Have to open the centre of the backing plate out a little bit to suit the beddie and redrill the 4 holes to attach it to the diff housing. Use the HK hand brake cables out of the drum and the HQ cable to join them to the beddie hand brake.

Now I know thats not what the question was but as beddie bits are getting harder to obtain and holden ones are more plentifull just another alteration to the bedford.    No not going to do that to the current bedford going VN disc brake rear end and VN disc on the front.
Nothing is impossible it just takes a bit longer
Julian
