A QUESTION FOR THE PANEL
if I had a 202 motor in a van and wanted to convert to auto (with overdrive), what would it cost and who would do it (melbourne)?

Who is the master for Bedford brakes (drum) in Melbs?

cheers

The 202 to trimatic conversion is pretty much a bolt up option, but they dont have overdrives.

Later model boxes may but then you might need a different bell housing.

Maybe the "Old Holdens" site might have some info on this or a decent Auot trans place might know.

As for Brakes - cant help you

tempting.
Take a guess at the cost of the converter and the gearbox.
I am not all that experienced with these things but i can imagine that they would be quite revvy on the highway given that they are made as commercial vehicles.

If I rolled into my local mechanic with a tranny (trimatic) in the back, what do you think is a fair price to put it in?
If there is some floor cutting to do, is there a template so I can cut it out and install the t-bar in preparation?
Is there a standard way of raising the t-bar to make it reachable?
Last question in intro section I promise.

trimatics dont have overdrives. but the turbo 700 does. but it has a different tailshaft yoke and needs an adapter plate which i think is a bout 400bucks. tranz should get a good second hand one for 100 - 150? tailshaft mod could cost 200bucks? cause it needs rebalancing also.

plus fitting maybe 300 - 400?? totally guessing but may give you a rough idea it wont be cheap..

nice buy on the beddy. its a good one that one ive seen it.

trimatic don't come out overdrives but you can add one - it's called a laycock (overdrive) unit, can even go on manuals
There are so many people out there who will tell you that you can't. What you've got to do is turn around and say "watch me"
