Whats the auto
« on: November 22, 2009, 05:43:08 PM »
The wreck that I bought a while ago came with some kind of holden 6 with an auto. I'm wondering if for the time being I should put the auto in my van. But I don't know anything about holden stuff  ???
Any way of telling what the transmission is and if it will bolt to my 173?

Thanks
Shane

from what i hear, the hard part is getting the shifter soughted if you dont have the original shifter and an early trimatic box.
the early trimatic box's (pre commodore) shifted from the right (passanger side), commodore box's from the left.

you will all so need the wiring soughted, you will need to light up the little panel that tells you what gear your in and
you'll all so need inhibitor switch working (the thing that stops it starting in forward gears and reverse).
And you thought owning a bedford was going to be easy.

your right matty:) i once spent 6 hours getting my shifter sorted:(  mind you i did want it to

1. look like a manual
2. be totally the opposite way so i could use it as a racing shifter where 1st is fully forward, 2nd then 3rd.

still shouldnt have taken that long thou lol.

Thanks guys.

Joe, If I end up wanting to fit the auto I might give you a call. At this stage I'll stick with the manual.
