Howdy folks, today on my travels I found a galaxie 9" for sale in PERTH. At this stage it's a housing only, but they will build what you want with warrenty. Performance unlimited, Welshpool Rd Welshpool........ask for Dean, tell him I sent you as he'll try and get $450-500 out of you but I got him down to $400 + REBUILD, considering I paid $300 in '95.....plus $1150 in parts and fitting....I'll post the number in the morning when I find the darn thing ???

G'day

That is cheap. 18 years ago I paid nearly $3000 for a Galaxy diff. But it was setup with Fairlane diskd and was powdercoated.
That is still a bargain.

Hey Guys just a thought, would the early american chev sedans (ie 68, 69 impala,ect)have suitable diffs as well? cheers...johnno ;D

I have a chev diff in my van (12 bolt) but I couldn't tell you what it came out of

John thy would most likely be 12 bolt diffs and if they were the right width then oK. They have the HQ stud patten

Hey Hammers.....What are those 12 bolt diffs like for strength ? I know that most were behind the 327 or 400 ci  v8s . Anywhere as strong as the favorite ford 9"?.  cheers.....johnno ;D

John no problems they are tough enough all right. Not the same rep as 9inch but still pretty strong. The 9inch is easier to change being a "banjo" style thatn a 12 bolt "Salisbury".

G'day

The CFS of mine that did a million k's had a 12 bolt in it for most of that. Never had any trouble with it, never made any noise, never leaked.

My diff specialist said that the 12 bolt I in the van was from an Impala and is stronger than a 9". The only advantage of the 9" is that the centre can be changed easier.
I don't know the ratio, but the van had a 308 V8, T400, and 15'x9" alloys with low profile tyres. It went very well for a very long time.

MMMMmmm Thats interesting to know guys as i think i have spied an old chev sedan of some sort near where i live . Might have to go and have a look eh?  ;) I always say it cost nothing to ask and you just might score! ;D   cheers.....johnno
