My Beddy and Me:) Part 2
« on: October 05, 2009, 04:34:11 PM »
Well i thought there wasnt going to be alot more happening for months yet, but my family stepped in and have helped with a new round of funding for the beddy "PLAYTIME".

So now Phase 2 Begins, Rust to be cut and welded and then Paint to be sprayed.

Again, im relying on people that have offered to do the work, but this time ill be a little more cautious.

By the end of Phase 2 i Hope to have NO RUST, Steel body kit, flash paint job and roadworthy certificate (dunno if Phase 2 includes rego)

so....

I will now need:

1/ Rubbers for doors and windows
2/ Seat Belts
3/ Wipers
4/ Headlight surrounds
5/ Rear window custom made plexiglass type thing (from one of our members)
5/ Tune and service
6/ Body and paint.
7/Min 2 tyres possibly all 4
8/ Front shocks
9/dash setup (as im sure mine doesnt work, but van hasnt moved anywhere so cant tell)

to be decided

1/Transmission (want to put auto in, have one there, but was told i should check its condition...at best it will cost me $500 ish to check and install and id need shifter).
2/ Possibly Bigger battery (brought temp one so it would start no probs but its pretty small)
3/ Thinking about the diff still as its a nightmare getting up my driveway.

What would Phase 3 be you ask???????

1/ Build the rear interior
2/ Sound system inc 2 poss 3 20inch LCD Tvs, and 2 7inch screens and snd head unit with a 7ich screen, enough subbies to blow out the walls.
3/ Front cab being professionaly upholstered (and maybe new steering wheel)

and Finally PHASE 4:

This is future...maybe 4/5yrs depending on any windfalls

1/ Big V8 with pro drive line (ie Disc brakes, transmission suspension etc
2/ Airbag susp (like the low rider style but not the hydralics, stuffed if im cutting out the floor)
3/ Revamp of paint and possibly revamp of body kit (id like one of those detachable front ends).

Then sell it on ebay for $5000 if im lucky hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha (j/k i aint ever selling...possibly)

Im excited again...as i should with some overtime this year finish phase 2 by Jan/Feb 2010...then hopefully get her close to show condition for April (ie interior and sound).

Good luck Kirk,

Reminds me of when I first bought my CF in 1990, such big plans and so much to do, so much I wanted to do if I had the funds. Half the people around me at the time thought "yeah sure he'll make something of it" (with more than a hint of sarcasim) the other half hoped I'd make something of it so they could come crusing in it with me.

You just stay focused on the end goal and you will make it.

As you build it make sure to take plenty of photos of the progress even the ones of what dosen't look like progress, it is good to look back on after you have built it and to show people what an achievement you have made. I have taken photos of my CF build and subsequent recent rebuild and have filled a 300 photo photo album that shows the inital build and rebuild. This album is always popular with the public at van shows and has always been on show with the van to tell the story of the van so far.

Oh and dont forget to post pics on here as we all love to see the progress of a beddy being built. And if you need any advice just ask there are always people here very willing to share.

Keep up the good work
cheers Jeff
Just customize it!

slow and steady wins the race.

i have run out of money for the motor but i already bought most of the things i needed for the body work and i just spent the last few hours sanding the front (the back is in primer) the rain finally stopped and im back out there and into it.

hope the weather is good and the rust is lite for you. good to see you didn't totally crack it and give up. take as many pics as you can.

the daughter got the beddy a claxton horn for christmas, l just finished fitting it , so we can go camping. The best part is, we got a shit load of water paint, and we're gonna give the beddy a make over while camping on the murry.. And you thought the hippys had all the fun. i'll post some picks when l get back.  (if its to bad, the wife can drive it back, and l'll hitch hike) ;D 8) :D
make it reliable, or smash it with a big hammer
