Brakes Plus is a specialst brakes place....now noone has actually said "Kirk i have a reconditioned/new one here for such and such price" noone has said goto such and such he has new/reconditioned ones for much cheaper....everyone has a do it yourself solution, or a modify this and that with a this and that.....
Kirk it doesnt take much to learn. it is so simple. you just need to try man. i started playing with bedfords 2 years ago. before that i had 0 mechanical knowledge. last few weeks i pulled 4 motors out of beddies and put 2 in. and 1 works lol.
i have said i am always on the end of the phone if you have questions about doing it yourself. but you have not taken me up on the offer.
here is how i work out if i should do it myself or not.
if they are charging me per hour more than i am earning per hour at my day job. i should do it myself:) thats if i can get hold of the tools and could have the expertise.
if you choose to get others to do your work you always gunna pay through the nose.
but heres what id do in your situation.
- grab an orig second hand good master from someone for $60 bucks (remove and fit yourself)
- get wheel cylinders stainless steel sleved 6 @ $40 each $240 (remove and fit yourself)
- push clean fluid through your brake lines. check to make sure ok. if not get brand new ones made up $70. (remove and fit yourself)
- when you develope more mechanical knwledge or want better braking. buy a disc brake setup from ebay or me $150 (fit yourself)
- Check caliper kits to make sure ok. usually pretty good other wise like $40 each
- throw a hq master cylinder on from ebay $20
i know i make it sound easy, but it is kirk. you just have to start and it will all make sense. its all just common sense.
