Hi all, I have just aquire a cf 1980 vintage. Was an ambulance from 1980 to 1984, then was converted to a 4 berth camper by C I MUNRO of Otorohanga,  nz.
How many owners can boast a truck that has just covered 100000 k, s.
Has the slant 4 motor  which goes well but has just been diagnosed as having a burnt valve on cylinder 3
Just waiting for a manual be for I remove the head,
Is their anything I need to watchout for when removing and refitting the head.

Welcome.

The old slant 4's can be a prick of a thing. The overhead cam shims will rattle after and they can be a nightmare to adjust correctly.
When you take out the oil pump (top front), see if it's got marble or ball bearing in it, this was an old trick used back in the day to keep the pump primed.

Parts are getting hard to get for the slant 4, not impossible just hard, ie cam belts.

If you're getting the Haynes manual, make sure it includes the mark 2 version as well
There are so many people out there who will tell you that you can't. What you've got to do is turn around and say "watch me"
