« on: October 24, 2015, 03:07:04 PM »
Hi All

Been a while tween postings...benn busy finishing my CFL

Have bought Beddy no7...
and am considering my options for V6s

as im old school and have always built 202s and the like...

can y'all give some advive as to a donor car...and what ones to avoid etc...

-I do have option of a friends grandparents VN commodore 180,000 ks...unmolested...as a parts car ...

but was wondering if newer models were better ..worse?

many thanks...

I am no expert, but believe the earlier v6's are a better option......well at least the transmissions as once the VR came in they became computer controlled, making life that bit more difficult. But having the whole car eliminates that issue...
And the VN v6 is good for 350+ KM's, so the one you can grab is hardly run in! :)
Even better you know it's history!
Workin for the weekend!

Hi Marky there are three differant series vn v6 engines 1,1.5,and 2, I ended up with a series 1.5 executive because like you a Friends father was happy to give it to me he was the only owner and looked after it but a calias series 2 would of been even better, i drove mine for a while and it went good enough for me I also have only read that the earlyer v6's are easier I think this is if you want to connect the commodore wiring harness into the bedford one,I just used the commodore wiring harness ,like rumax said and after getting a bit of the way through mine you could get any v6 donor and use it

Cheers Phil
