cross member for supra in bedford

Hi guys,

Who has put a supra gearbox into there bedford? Im nearly there except my original cross member does not fit... any suggestions on modifying this?

Basically bolt the gearbox to the motor and support it at the back by a jack.
Adjust jack height till it lines up with diff yolk.
Then fit original crossmember and make up a new rear gearbox support and tack to crossmember.
Remove it and fully weld up. Making sure no part of orig one fowls on gearbox anywhere.
Then fit shift etc .

An additional piece,
 it can be made up of a few pieces fabricated together.
As long as its all welded together and is strong.
Try keep it simple and affective.

Any chance you know anyone that can do tailshaft extensions in melbourne?

I almost went down the Supra gearbox path myself, but then realised I couldn't live with the rear-set gearshift position, cutting a hole in the floor, and a couple of other factors. If ever there's a way to have an effective linkage under-floor that can use the original shifer position I might consider it again!

Sorry Joshua i dont know anyone.

But id try talking with anyone you can find building hotrods.
As these guys have to go down the body and modification path quiet often.

So the network of experts would be all gathered within the enthusiasts.
If you see a hotrod parked somewhere try to talk with the owners.
Id say just about every hotrod builder has had to modify the tailshaft 1 time or another.
Also try google
tailshaft modification or tailshaft fabrication , (your local area) etc
