Hello from the Gold Coast
« on: December 28, 2013, 10:45:27 AM »
Hi everyone, I am retired and at present live near the Gold Coast. I have just signed up to this interesting site as I have a 1986 CF Bedford, actually it's an ex-ambulance from NZ that has been converted into a campervan. Just after I bought it in July 2012 I took off for a trip around the entire coastline of Australia with my two dogs. Over a period of 12 months I clocked up 26,000ks on the reconditioned motor that had done appoximately 1,000ks. The trip was not without incident as the previous owners used the van for very short trips once a year, hence it was subjected to a few rough roads and hard work.
During the 12mths I spent over $10,000 on repairs, some of which were the original parts...i.e. rear wheel bearings >:(. These had to be posted from Qld to Noresman in WA. Wasn't impressed with that, but considering how many times I broke down with something or another, I just kept on keeping on!
I am interested in selling the van, if anyone is interested. OR, would love to find someone in the Gold Coast area who could advise me on updating the engine or gearbox and who could refurbish the interior, at a reasonable price. Being retired I'm not made of money but am willing to pay for a job well done.

Thank you

Cheers,

Maws
