XC Falcon grill catch ?
« on: September 17, 2013, 06:26:18 PM »
Those of you who have or have had a XC Falcon grill in your vans, what did you do for the bonnet catch?

I'm doing my bonnet hinges and was going to latch it on the sides but now can't fit it, I tried the CF catch stalk but it's to flimsy on the plastic grill, not to mention big and bulky
There are so many people out there who will tell you that you can't. What you've got to do is turn around and say "watch me"

You know, this is like finding out there is no Easter Bunny or Santa Clause. Busy, I have read your posts, checked your website and sat back in jaw dropping amazement at your achievements and skills, to see you see post a question like that has just shattered all my illusions!,

Dare I say that the Xc grill to you is the equivalent of kryptonite to superman?

Mate I have an xc grill and it quite simple. What we done was cut the top peice off the beddy grill that the bonnett catch bolts to then digrinded out the back of the xc where the grill touches the catch. Where the grill fits into the gaurds we tapped it to the shape of outside of the grill till the xc sat in flush. We then dummy fitted the lights to the grill sat all in the hole then marked and made up some brackets in the engine bay for the lights to bolt to then finally put some flat screws in the top and bottum near the blinker.
Some people don't put the brackets in the engine bay and then wonder why their grill cracks because it's got no support for the weight of the lights. By using flat screws near the blinkers it will allow you to remove the blinker lenses to change the bulbs.

Hope this helps. Shane
Life is just a dream if you don't own a Beddy

Thanks Shane, it sounds logical but I just remembered I don't have the filler panel between bonnet and grill, I extended the bonnet down to the grill.

Oh well Mezz, looks like I'm going to have to restore your faith in me ;)
If it helps, the bonnet is hinged forward
