Prep and next coat after etch primer
« on: October 03, 2013, 02:49:59 PM »
Hi. So I will picking up my shell from the dip stripping place in the next few days. It has been etched primed everywhere including inside all the nooks and crannies with a hose and 360 wand head thingy. The under body has been coated already with a good suitable paint. My question is...when I get it back I want to put the next coat on right away. What is a good primer? Different for interior and exterior? And how do u prep the etch thats already on it? Do I just clean it with prepsol and then spray over it or do I need to give it a light rub 1st?
Thanks

hey atk1, I am not a trade painter but I have painted a lot cars and boats in my line of work, and I would not rub the etch as you might bear the metal, spray hi- build primer straight over the top after a wax & grease wipe down, or just use arcrylic grey primer if your body work is in good condition.
hope this helps.

Yeah cheers. I know its a real newbie question. But for this resto I want to do more of it myself and have a good eye on all the work thats going to be done. Im renting a big storage shed and look forward to starting with this fresh clean shell.
