tie rod ends

I recently got a pair of tie rod ends for $110 from R&E Auto Parts.

now chasing inner tie rods, not having any luck online so far, anyone have any contacts? Or Cuzzy Bro's?

Cheers BF, I had a look but the web site didn,t give up much info, did you get the inner or outter tie rods from these guys? I have sent them an email ....waiting for Monday I guess, also good to see Benny Back, I have sent him a MSG too. Dano

I misunderstood you the other day dano, you want the boots to go over the inner section on the steering rack?
Does the steering rack have end play, or just worn rubbers?
If just the rubbers, we got some generic ones from Odin Autos in balcatta, then just put some hose clamps on them

 I have play in the inner tie rods. I need to replace them.

ok, does anyone have any photo's of their "steering rebuild"  I would like to see a photo of whats "under" the steering boots

the inners aren't balljoints, it's a half cup with a spring.

be VERY careful if you remove the lock nut to inspect as it has a pressed pin in them which very carefully needs to be drilled out, anything left it CAN (re will) destroy the thread, as its a very fine machine thread.

To inspect this joint, remove tierod end and it should hold it's own weight horziontally, if it just flops or wont move then it needs adjusting, preferably by steering expert or replace the rack.

Doo yourself a favour If it's loose or sloppy get an exchange one or have it rebuilt by pro steering place ittle probably need new bushes too so get it done by a pro

I've got a steering rack in two halves if you'd like to have a look, but as these wise gentlemen have said, it's better to buy a good used or well reconditioned unit.
