Weird Tick

Thought I`d share this.....
I had a strange ticking noise  in my  motor  . Almost like a plug lead shorting or loose tappet . Searched everywhere  . Nothing found .
Later I happened to touch the dipstick while engine was running and there it was!!!  I could feel something tappin away at the stick!
Bent the dipstick tube in towards motor a tad and no more tick , tick , tick  . Happy chappy  .

i'd seen this before if the dipstick is flat parrallel to the camshaft it will hit on the crank, but if you turn it so its flat side to side of the motor it stops! i too had a bit of a head scratch before i worked it out!
