Balljoints keep breaking

G'day!

I have a '77 SWB CF and the passenger side lower balljoint lasts as little as a year. It's just broken the 4th one and I have no idea why. Each time the joint is very dry even though the rubber boot is in good condition. The front is lowish from the weight of a 350 Chev and it's a daily driver (approx 10,000 kms a year) but I would expect to get more than that from it. I don't really know if the driver's side balljoint lasts much longer because I change both each time. Any ideas anybody? Thanks in advance.

when was the last time you changed the shocks? left one could be faulty causing excessive road shock to the balljoint(lower one is the load bearer on a bedi) is it pulling out of the ball socket or snapping the shaft ,because if its snapping it could be over pivoting at the joint (bent lower arm or bump stops shot/missing ,anyway thats my thoughts on it

Thanks Merlin, the joint is popping out of the socket - will check out the shock.

Hmmm... I'm at a total loss here, the guy at the steering place says everything looks fine. The balljoint that popped out is completely dry and the other one has bugger all grease in it. He reckons that they may not have been greased enough at the factory - except that it's the 4th one (and the 3rd brand). This makes me really hesitant to drive the thing.

Has anybody else been having similar problems?

Might be a good idea to get greasable  ball joints or drill ungreasable ones to fit grease nipples
I had a bottom balljoint pop out once,
Bottom wishbone hit the road and the van was stuck where it poped....
Tow truck picked it up n got it home....
I changed the lot, top,bottom and tie rod ends.
Then did the uni joints etc,
Wasnt taking any chances of another failure......
