Bearings, balljoints and bushes once and for all.
« on: August 03, 2012, 12:33:40 AM »
Hi Ladies and Gents,
I have been doing extensive research on these matters partly by choice, and partly by force.
I have separated the following into categories to help navigation.

Bearings for HQ-WB disc brake conversions

Bearings to use: Small Stub

2 off SKF 12748/10
Bore:   21.430mm/0.8437in
O.D:    45.237mm/1.7810in
Width:  15.494mm/0.6100in

2 off LM67048/10
Bore:   31.750mm/1.2500in
O.D:    59.131mm/2.3280in
Width:  15.875mm/0.6250in

These bearings require no modification to either the stub axle nor the disc rotor in anyway.

Bearings to use: Large Stub

2 off 07100S/07210X *
Bore:   25.400mm/1.0000in
O.D:    50.800mm/2.0000in
Width:  15.011mm/0.5910in
(*Requires machining of rotor)

2 off L68149/10
Bore:   34.987mm/1.3775in
O.D:    59.131mm/2.3280in
Width:  15.875mm/0.6250in

These bearings will require machining of the rotor at the outer face ONLY, which will then either require a grease cap adapter, or a larger size grease cap if anyone is interested in attempting to source a suitable part.

I recommend either informing your suspension shop that the appropriate bushes require burning out the previous bushes leaving the shells intact, as I had mine burnt out and then the company pushed out the shells anyway.
This was an expensive exercise.

Bushes installation costs

WA suspensions quoted $280
Pedders quoted $150 or less depending on time taken. (it cost me $88 in the end)

I hope this is helpful for some.
Cheers,
Matte

i have posted this in the technical and driveline forums for ease of finding for future reference.
I personally think this should be made 'sticky' however that is upto the discretion of the moderators.
