Hey Bas, mate i don't know what it is here in oz. Mate back in the 70s and 80s Qld and Vic were the bedford capitals. I dont know if it is laziness, cost or just time, we dont even have a dedicated Bedford club here in oz, all the van clubs are for panel vans. Maybe it is just a case of not having the custom builders here. I do know from experience that people just don't want to do custom modifications, they just want to bolt and unbolt panels. When i was doing mine it took up to 2 years of searching to stumble onto someone that liked a challenge. I know as fact that the hot rod builders like OZ RODs, just 10mins from me wanted to charge over $20,000-00 to drop in the V6, Gearbox and do the power steering, do they want to work or are they just being pricey so they don't have to say no. I dont know if Phil L. who owns a couple of Bedfords was at this years Nats, but even he is the president of one of the panel van clubs here in Qld, but he does'nt have a panel van.
bottom line is if i can EVER get my van finished ( lack of trades ) then my promise is to set up a Bedford Club.

George.

Actually if I was in Aus I probably wouldn't bother doing up a van. Seeing how much you guys are tied down by regulations and rules and the hoops you have to go through I would say most of the people who would ever be interested in vehicle modification would just put it in the too hard basket.
