keeping your beddie
« on: September 11, 2008, 08:11:17 PM »
heard today of a current get rich scheme thats operating now,  so you got your old van or holden/ford car parked in the street, and its been parked up for a while or you park it in the same place every day while your at work .....bad guy comes along ..... removes the registration plates and then rings a car removal service to pick up your vehicle .... waits around for a while till the tray truck turns up ...... then signs a false name and a nearby address on the receipt and gets $200 - $300 dollars for your vehicle .... the tray carts your vehicle away to the crushers never to be seen again, no questions asked. The bad guy gets cashed up and moves on to the next victim, not bad for an hours waiting. If the bad guy gets nervy he just walks away. Its as easy as meeting the tray truck driver, signing a form getting the cash and then leaving, don't even have to be there when its being loaded on the tray. How many times have you seen a vehicle being loaded onto a tray truck thats marked with a legit wrecking business and thought "hang on that vehicle may be getting stolen" betcha never crossed your mind.

Don't believe me?  take my word for it, its happening now in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Pop rivet those plates on beddie owners so they are hard to remove, keeping your plates on the vehicle may not solve the removal but it may cause the tray truck driver or yard workers to be suspicious. Think about this, your a tray truck driver working for a wrecker, the boss tells you to go and pick up a vehicle so you do as your told no questions asked, when you get there its an old vehicle which is unregistered because theres no plates attached, so you think no worries just another job cause the boss has organised it and load the vehicle, hand over the money and drive back to the crushers, the boys in the yard think what a great deal and take the stereo and anything else of value and then load the vehicle into the crusher. If you have ever had a vehicle removed think back how many questions you were asked by the tray truck driver to prove that it was your vehicle, I bet all you did was ring the wreckers over the phone to organise a date and time for the pick up and when the tray truck turned up all you got was the cash.  ???

You may ask why would I post this scheme for bad guys to read, well its because beddies are being targetted and the bad guy gets more for a beddie, and I am not overly concerned about others losses but I am concerned about our beddies being stolen and crushed  >:(

crapola....i was having such a good day till i read that:( Mine is the perfect opportunity as its not regoed, and my neighbour is already threatening to have it towed. Only thing in our favour is that there is pretty much someone awake and her 24hrs a day (thanks to 3 shift workers)....and i know alot of bad people in western suburbs that no doubt would at very least find out who our naughty boy was:) and his $300 wouldnt cover the damage;)

wow, thanx for that info eddy, im riviting my plates on tomorow,
lol, mine will never have a great spray job while i own it,
its getting a camo paintjob soon, they wouldnt question crushing it
if it had no plates, a great sprayjobs not on my priority list as if it gets scratched i will be unhappy, better having one easy to touchup in my opinion.
and it wouldnt get stolen coz it doesntlook great, but mechanically and rustwise its near perfect. id rather be able to sleep just in from the side of the road when traveling in peace and not be seen, than stand out in a crowd....
