aussie 4 speed wanted

Something to consider is that the aussie 4 speed is a simple bolt in change, and with a diff with a 3.08 to 3.25 ratio you will get heaps better speed and drivability.

The celica conversion needs a different bell housing, gearbox cross member and tail shaft, without thinking about the shifter linkage issue, and without a diff ratio change your still no going to get a great increase in top speed.

Currently its your 4.44 ratio diff thats limiting your top speed not the gearbox, most gearboxes have a 1 to 1 ratio for the final gear (some have overdrive but the overdrive ration is small)

So three, four or five speed will only get you up to the same(ish) top speed, but changing the diff ratio will make a marked difference in top speed without changing your gearbox.

From what I've heard you would be maxing out at around 80Kph with the 4.44.

which ever way you go if you don't change your diff ratio you wont get the full benifit of any gearbox change.

If you have a 5 speed the top end is open, mine runs a 5.1 diff with auto overdrive ( same ratio as 5 speed ) top end I don't know but had it up to 140km. The Delica we had, had a 4.7 rear end and 5 speed top end well over the 160km, so I'm sure a 4-whatever is going to let the van hit the spEed limit with a bit to spare. The only thing is, and it's good with the low diff your'e quick of the mark.... BUT THEN WHAT DO i KNOW 

There is one thing Ben said, and Warren might mean and this dosen't happen to factory built cars, but seems to with the power up of the Bedford, if the diff is not changed to a  tall ratio 3.+ you will find the the motor tends to rev a bit, so worth the change to stop this happening.....
