ford ef 250 into beddy cf250??
« on: September 13, 2008, 05:58:56 PM »
got a friend selling a ford ef falcon.. for $250. apparently the only problem is the computer is kaboom! $100 worth aparently

its had the straight 6 250 in it.. with overdrive box..

am considering a repower in my black beddy.

there is people that have done this conversion yeh? and i dont want no electronic speedo and any new looking stuff inside my beast. cant imagine even considering anytrhing by Ford! but they are extremely cheap ion gas so its an option.

anyone have anythoughts on the wiring side of things? and what wiring is needed for the motor to run?

Ben as long as you dont plan on running petrol you could leave the fuel injection stuff on. Just hook up the gas to it. Wiring it is straight forward if you are not using the efi.

You'll find that you wont have as much torque and power all though the rev range without the computer connected. The inlet manifold on those engines has a nice  valve arrangement that opens and closes to effectively adjust the runner length. Without that the engine wont be half what it used to be.
I've used these engines in more conversions than I can count on my fingers and toes and all of them ended up with having the computer wired.

G'day

A mate of mine reconditions cylinder heads and he says that he gets lots of Falcon heads in for rebuild. If you are going to use one make sure you have good cooling.
The problem I have is that most of my stories end with... and that is why I am not allowed to go back there!
