LWB camper QLD carsales
« on: October 27, 2011, 05:00:44 PM »
Hi guys,

Just a long shot. The green lwb camper from QLD on carsales sold a few days ago on its first day (I missed out by a day). I believe it was bought from someone in Vic. Just a long shot, if the buyer who bought it is on our BUGA site, and for whatever reason it is not what you expected, please contact me as I will buy it from you as it is perfect for our Bash.
As I say, just a long shot. Otherwise, well done to you.  I'm jealous already!

Thanks, Adrian.

G'day

There is the quick and then there is the CFless.
Following is advice I posted on the old forum back in 2003. The advice is probably still valid.

Quote

I have the following advice on ways to find Bedfords:

-Drive a flash one one around. People often comment where they have seen one or know where one is sitting.

-Scan the net, including the Trading Post. Don't procrastinate, because by 7am Thursday morning I have checked all the adds, Australa wide!

-Place wanted adds in local papers and on community notice boards. I was looking for a Kingswood wagon and placed an add on the local free Radio-Tradio. I got over 40 phone calls. And no I haven't bothered putting an add on for Bedfords because I'm pretty sure I know where they all are around here.

-Always be on the lookout. I was visiting a mate in Newcastle and of course, I checked out the local paper. Ha-ha another Bedford was mine!

-Be prepared to make quick decisions. I was in Canberra on a business trip when I spied a cheap V8 Bedford out of rego. I cashed in my airline ticket and got a 4 hour permit to drive it home, which I did with about 2 minutes to spare.

-Be prepared to travel. A mate was travelling through Moree and saw a clean CFS on the side of the road for sale. 8am the next morning I was knocking on the blokes door after tracking him down and travelling on the night bus.

-Don't take no for an answer. I got Norwegian Wood by being persistant and even ignoring threats of divorce.

-If the price is right take a chance and buy sight unseen. I have bought several Bedfords out of Sydney (5 hours drive away) by giving an envelope full of cash to a car carrier and getting him to pay for it at the pickup. If it's not value for money he rings me and I renegotiate the deal on the spot. He charges me $180 to do the deal and deliver it back to my place.

-Be organised. I just bought Commodore 3.3 EFI motor and bits from the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria and some really good motor bits in Tasmania. By having the right contacts, I am getting it all transported to Dubbo on the cheap.

-Remember that most people don't know what their talking about. I bought a Bedford that they thought was a Ford van.

Other tips:

-The adds don't always accurately describe the van. The last Bedford I bought had lots of extras (eg H'way diff) that the owner didn't even know about.

- Haggle. Just because he wants $2000, doesn't mean you can't talk him down to $1000.

-It's a lot easier to say sorry than please.

-Women are everywhere, Bedfords aren't.

-If your woman starts to give you to too much grief about your Bedford habits, just remind her that her sister/brother/mother/best friend is still better in bed.

-If you have managed to wake up without a knife in your back, get up and have another go.

Cheers
The problem I have is that most of my stories end with... and that is why I am not allowed to go back there!

Thanks Blackbedford,

Good advice. I was ready. Cash all ready to direct deposit same day. I was even willing to fly up this weekend to Townsville to get this one home. Just missed by one day. End of the day, seller has agreed to sell it to someone else so unfortunately I have to respect this and wait for another one to come. It's just a long break in between good suitable ones. So, if you have any interesting ones, please message me.

Thanks,

Adrian

I know the feeling...i was ready to fly up to Canberra to buy a bedford last year...had a great chat with the owner but he decided to sell it to a friend instead...what can u do...
Always walk a mile in someone else's shoes...you'll be a mile away, and you'll have their shoes!!!
