hey perth brothers from a different mother ;D would surely like to get to the perth nats so much that am looking for work in WA We actually started our year long road trip about 9 weeks ago but ...... am still in melbourne with the caravan lying dormant in the driveway !!! GGGRRRRRRR ...........  >:(  Officailly I start back at my usual job on 9 September 2012 so 9 weeks ago me thinks I'll go do a couple of quick cashie building jobs to get fuel money and extras on the poojero tow 4 x 4, that small job took me 3 weeks mind you I towed the caravan to Healseville so didn't have an hour drive to and from each day ... well got a taste for extra cash so took a day labour job at Ararat and yes travelled to and stayed there in the caravan for 2 weeks .......  oohhh lots of luverly cash ..........  now we got enough fuel money to go where ever we like .... then wifes cousin asks us to do another cashie so not for being greedy or indeed needy we agree to do a quick job for her, BUT can only give you 2 weeks we tell them, we want to get going !! .... sure, sure, 2 weeks it is, no mucking around, we know your time is limited in melbourne .........  >:( that was 3 weeks ago and today I turned up at the job wanting to get it finished ... and no show by them ... another wasted day !!!! GGGRRRR
Anyway ....... where the heck is the Pilbara ? they are advertising for formwork carpenters but must be locally based not fifo  ??? ... woops apologies if I hijacked the post Waz but I reckon if I can get a start in WA then I get to go to their Nats  :P
ekm ...... never lead with your chin, let others lead with theirs

Eddy the Pilbara is big patch of Nother WA

http://www.australiasnorthwest.com/en/Destinations/The_Pilbara/Pages/The_Pilbara.aspx

My Brother in law is the head huncho of the Army in Karatha which is over the west a bit more.

Personally I haven't been there but it's breath taking I'm told.

If you live there in your van expect to pay big money for sites, I've heard of of 4 bedroom houses in Karatha going for over $1000 a week.

Lots of distance traveling between places up that way, but if you do go - go to Coral Bay and the Nigaloo reef absolutely fabulous

FIFO stands for Fly-In-Fly-Out which basically means that you live in Perth or further south and the company flys you to work every week or so depending on your roster.

The Pilbara could mean Newman or Paraburdoo which wouldn't be as expensive as Karratha

Cheers,

Garry

hey gary, thanks for the clarification, I have responded to an expression of interest for formwork carpenters on the Gorcon project, I think that will be Port Hedland or perhaps Barrow Island, we have 6 weeks left of paid leave and have to consider finding employment in construction before time runs out, any way ... in the mean time and the very near future ..... 0300 hours next Wednesday to be exact, no excuses, no beg your pardons and without fail we will be pullling out of the driveway with the caravan in tow and heading north to Airlie Beach for a few weeks to catch up with an old mate and his missus  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D .... hooray on the road again at last !!!!!!!! looking forward to 12 months juz me and the missus working and travelling around this great big sunburnt, rain drenched country  .... wooo hooo ... look out dolphins, crocodiles, stingas, roos, wombats, road kill, spiders, lizards, frogs, bats, and those liddle iddy bit fishies that I always seem to end up catching .........   unca eddy is coming to a caravan park near you  ;D ;D ;D
ekm ...... never lead with your chin, let others lead with theirs
