I have a 77 bedford van that i am doing the front brakes on, it has the original
front drums on but came with no shoes or assembly, i have found that with a little
machining i can fit the hq holden disks to her, but have found that i may need to
change the control arm aswell, i am just a beginner with the bedford and am in
desperate need of some information from people experienced with bedfords and have
done this before.
Please help
Thank you

I dont think you will need to change the control arms, just make the
adaptor plate for the calipers.

I will post this in the technical/driveline/disc brake section look there
for more info and replies

Also look at Restoreids threads on his camper he has changed to commadore
brakes all round, if you dont have a highway diff yet his way could be
better for you.

Hey guys, i am guessing you want to go disc and loose the drums, we bought a complete bolt  on kit from a company in bris, my mechanic unpacked and bolted it straight on. Price, not cheap, but i would have to look for the prices and name of company if you want to go with them. We did not have to change the control arms.

Hey guys, i could not find the name of the disc brake company in my receipt file, and the mechanic has not rung me back, but i am sure i have the details in the workshop, so i will have a look in the morning. You are probably wondering why i dont have all the info at hand, well, because almost everything on my van is non beddy, ie: motor, gearbox, tailshaft, lights, steering rack and steering column. He is holding the info, and when we finish he is going to have a workshop manual made up, incorporating all the custom parts, that way if i need a set of rear disc brakes, i can check the manual, and it will have all the info i need to buy the parts over the counter.

Guys, and any Gals,I have a LWB motorhome with 186 and Trimatic. It's slow up hills,go figger, and have aquired a Gen 3
Ls1 and 4l60e auto to slip into it. I have sourced a rear hump sump from the USA,and found a electrician who makes a stand alone loom. I obviously want to put disks on the front (I have read all the disk brake posts) but don't know if these posts and bearing sizes are applicable to the LWB. Any suggestions/comments welcomed.

OK guys, sorry for the delay, was dreading going to the workshop, man its hot in there, tin roof, walls and concrete floor. Anyhow here are the details for the company we bought all out disc brake kit and parts from, these guys have a bloke there that knows about the mighty beddy, so he is a good help. The other thing is, these guys can machine parts if needed, and to an engineer spec part.

TBS
BRAKE & STEERING MANUFACTURING
18 SMITH ST CAPALABA
PHN: 07 3390 2622

These guys sell all the bearings, and all the components to go to disc brakes. Even though we went with EA Falcon rear disc brakes, we got the new rotors and bits from these guys.
