I have been real lucky, bought twice on ebay in the USA and not had a problem.
I was selling a 59 ford Ranchero and got exactly word for word the same as Hugh.
But I caught on the same only I had a phone number that took me all sorts of places when I rang after midnight which got me thinking so yeah very lucky. ::)

Yeah he made it home OK. Even I was worried that I would have to go and rescue him. He was happy, I had put a new battery in it and made sure everything was working before I listed it.

The back of the car is sitting on house doors and the air compressor is there because we had just put 60lb in the back tyres to get them looking round again.

I have done worse, but I don't talk them. Things like long range transporting of a Perkins 354 diesel motor in the back of a Falcon Wagon or another in the back of a Tarago van. Both were arse scrapping experiences. The others I REALLY don't talk about.

The problem I have is that most of my stories end with... and that is why I am not allowed to go back there!

This scam is not only still going, but it's getting more heinous. I'm trying to sell my motorcycle for the advertised price of $6,000.00 and he/she/it/they offered me $6,500.00 and said they would pay for shipping charges. His/Her/Its'/Their response to my email:

"Thanks for the response,i will take it for $6,500 including PayPal surcharges since i am interested in the immediate purchase for my Dad who just moved to Malaysia, where this is needed and i will be making use of a shipping company to have this picked up from you and have it delivered to him. Further arrangements will be made with you in regards to the pick up once i have paid you.

I would appreciate if you email me with more pictures (if available) too since i won't be be able to see this in person, what's the PayPal email to send funds to in order for me to pay you ASAP."

My response:

I'm actually involved with the ACCC my friend and not only has your address but your specific story (word for word) has also been submitted as being a scam. I guess you can only go so far running things like this until you get caught. Enjoy the court case, Scumbag.

Please read and pass this on before selling anything of great value online - I was one of the lucky ones that picked up on this before it went too far.

Cheers,

Michael
