One thing that hasn't been mentioned - door rubbers

piano hinges are good but don't allow a seal between it, if you do try squeeze the door closed with full rubber in there you will be putting massive amount of pressure on the hinge pin and inturn would break the collars holding the pin (same as any hinge)

so you have to compromise; looks (show cars most often dont use door rubbers) vs practical (piano higes take up the less room) vs weather (dust, water, wind noise ...) ...  maybe use the paino hinge but change the door rubbers to a jappa style

and use stainless steel

The rubber is fine. In fact it's even easier than a standard door rubber. You can buy the flat rubber strip from any rubber supplier. You used to be able to get it from Para before they went west. As the piano hinge doesn't close flush the rubber seal sits in the gap quite nicely and compresses without any dramas over the mounting screw heads.

O.K. guys time to think outside the square, when hot rodders are building a rod that came out with a dicky seat and they want to turn it into a boot they are going to need hinges that open "out and away" so your hinge needs to be shaped like the letter J, Hank from Street Rod Services in Rockingham ended up making his own for the rear door on his 1934 Ford Sedan Delivery and it works very well, so Google some hot rod shops to see what they have, I've had some good dealings with Timic Hot Rod Supplies so I would start there

I made the hinges for my gullwing side and back doors, they are a ? shape
There are so many people out there who will tell you that you can't. What you've got to do is turn around and say "watch me"
