Hey Brian.....Neil was telling me about 2 months ago that there has been a major crackdown on the importation of vehicles into Australia from the USA. Some thing about you had to have extremely detailed paperwork of the vehicle and it has to be 100% original to get it licensed  here?  :-\

Yes I have been following it very closley.
They knocked back 3 vehicles here in Perth and another 6 in the east.
The paper work was incorrect ie they lied about what they were exactly importing.
Typical govt department decided to crack down and do every thing by the letter of the law.
So basically if you import anything, you have to have acurate photos  and description.
Also any modifications that have been done since 1989 have to be listed. Hard to prove really but if you are honest and accurate it wont be a problem.
The main thing now is to have import approval before it leaves its original country of origin,"just in case they dont approve it" then you can appeal and thats usually a 6 week deal.
It is harder but in reality fairer and it was the Japanese imports of sports sedans than triggered the problem.

yes they can be hard, anything other than a custom paint and a set wheels could mean it has to be sent back (or as a bloke here in Ballarat has done, foward it on to New Zealand, change what he has to and bring it back) Pre 1988 cars are easier, and by the photo they all look much older and stock, so they should be a breaze. ::)
make it reliable, or smash it with a big hammer
