Volvo dash cluster, and volvo disk brake diff
« on: June 21, 2010, 08:03:12 PM »
Hey fellas(and ladies)
I have finally convinced mum that volvos suck, so i'll be taking her 264 to the scrap metal yard over the next couple of days.

If anyone wants the dash cluster(like Rothu's shown below)

or the disk brake diff

Let me know sooner rather than later as i'll have to pull them out before i head to the scrap joint.

I dont know what's involved in fitting either of these, or if they're even possible to fit, but the options are there..

it went alright, served mum well.. it needs the head pulled to clean up a sticking/burnt valve which isn't all that hard to do, but i have more important things to do. i've pulled a few things off it for myself. Mum got herself a beemer so the volvo's not worth a great deal to her.. a couple of hundred from the scrap joint and she'd be happy.

The seats may suit someone with standard bedford seats, they're not overly awesome, but they're comfortable and you can adjust the firmness of the seat back.

if anyone's interested
cluster $75
diff $200
seats $100

Those old volvos weigh a fair bit, and the going rate at Sims Metals in Bibra Lake is $187.00 a ton!! Put it on a car trailer and take it yourself ;D

good call merlin, i hadnt thought too deeply about pulling it out.

John, is that for scrap metal or car bodies? they usually have 2 different rates to cater for the quality of the metals.. eg engine blocks are mostly metal, where as a car is only 50% metal.. but either way, i was planning to put it on the car trailer, as the $10 in fuel will still be more than paid for in the final amount.. some places will pick it up for free but not pay, others will pay a $20-50 fuel voucher. i went thru all this with my BA, but there wasn't much left of my BA when i was done ;)
