Bearing query
« on: September 13, 2010, 08:48:07 PM »
have a bit of a  ???  ???  ??? on the inner front bearing of my beloved, scored a pair of timken L68149 bearings, which fit the stub axle ,i believe they are the correct ones as stub has holden pattern. they came with a L68110 race ,it plopped loosely into the disc  ???  >:( ???  :'( .checked the old races i had knocked out, they were L68111  :-\ i measured  the inner of both races ,they seem the same, :-\ would i be right in assuming the possibility that the difference in race numbers is 111 has a larger outer diameter to fit in discs, but its inner dimentions are the same as the 110,allowing the bearing to seat correctly  ???   ??? any thoughts on this appreciated, especially serious ones  ;) ("very serious" icon inserted.)  :)  :) cheers.
I,d rather sell my...mum,....than my bedford!!

Depending on which year your van is there are a couple of different bearings that fit however the numbers you have given don't seem to match up to anything. Check your part numbers here...

...and also check the CRS document in the 'Technical Downloads' section in the 'Download' area. Specifically the schematic drawing of the discs.

This is all assuming of course you have one of the standard conversion kits fitted.

cheers rouge, will do ,my beloved is an 87 CF,the discs are canadian made repco ror with tolerences following. the bearings that came out were NSK L68149,can only summise someone done a "bodge & scarper" whackin them into the old timken races sigh .. the joys of beddying eh NSK are not my bearings of choice. is there a chance that the old races possibly spun in the disc, which is why the oversized outer dia races were put in, just an educated guess?

I think you might mean 77. Anything is possible. When you say your stub has a Holden pattern do you mean the stub axle is a Holden one or that the discs have a Holden stud pattern?

If your stub axle is still the standard Bedford one and your bearings are stuffed hence having the new ones then you might want to consider setting up a new set of discs at the same time so you know that everything is done correctly. That should avoid any issues in future.

If your stub axles are holden then standard discs and bearings should be the go and if your stub axle has been ground down to suit a different bearing size then you might want to redo the whole lot for safetys sake.

I'm just doing the disk brakes on front of my standard CF, for the inner I think it was bedford bearing with aftermarket cup and for the front think it was holden bearing with aftermarket cup, but outer disk had to be machined slighlty to suit.

Is different to my custom van set up as the stubs are different sizes (think there are 2 swb sizes and the lwb one)
There are so many people out there who will tell you that you can't. What you've got to do is turn around and say "watch me"
