I'm Back. A Re-introduction
« on: December 20, 2009, 09:36:09 PM »
Well.....It's been a long time, and I see I'm still a moderator. *blushes* I'll try better to live up to that now.
Jeff here from Wellington. A lot has happened since I last posted here, over a year ago. I missed you guys, but it was too painful to log on.
When the recession hit we were not in a good situation; We had no cash reserves and Boudica needed a few more thousand to finish her off and make her legal. We had moved and had nowhere to store her, and my work had dropped to about two days per week.  The situation was looking grim, and we went into survival mode. We sold Boudica for next to nothing.
But work has picked up again, and the Beddie addiction is as strong as ever.
We have just bought this '82 250. It has a straight body, welded up back, LD28, manual with a Cresta diff.
So the story has a new beginning, but I have learnt to do it slowly this time, and not to get too carried away with the modifications. And oddly enough after not at all liking  Boudica, my wife is supportive of this one.* I'll never understand them*.
We hate the colour. It looks like the "Mitre 10" van, and will paint it dark blue at some stage.
I've been snooping around here for a week or so, but now I'm back, and I do apologise for disappearing so suddenly.
Funny old life.

G'day

It has happened to the best of us so you're not alone. Remember it was world wide.
When you're eyebrow deep in it, somethings have to give (even Bedfords).
Don't take life seriously, we're not going to get out of it alive anyway or with or with our Bedy.

Welcome back.
The problem I have is that most of my stories end with... and that is why I am not allowed to go back there!

Hi Jeff and welcome back. I did wonder where you had gone but couldn't remember what your sign-on was and I didn't think I'd get too many helpful replies if I'd asked where 'thingy' was. Good to have another local back. I've always been quite lucky that my van hasn't been worth enough to sell. Come to think of it, it still isn't and would cost me too much to move it on so I guess I'm stuck with it  ;D ;)

So what are you calling the new van? How about Jaffa!  ;D

Thank you all for your welcomes.... Its good to be back.
Jaffa has been suggested, but we will paint it when the gutters are tidied, the front rounded off slightly, a sun roof installed, and maybe some flare work to accommodate the sixteen inch wheels  we have for her. So will have to live with the orange for a while. The avatar looks ok, but full size orange/red is a bit overpowering.

Hey Jeff,

Great to have you back on the forum and another van in the garage. Sounds like you have a few plans for it to keep you busy.

Be great to catch up sometime. If you're not up to anything at Easter, the van Nationals are in Christchurch and 2011 possibly in the Auckland area maybe, possibly ish.

Anyway great to have you back and looking forward to the progress on the new girl.

Cherers,
Garry.

yeah bring it to christchurch, we want more vans for the show, especially ones that are painted. I'll save you a space at the show just in case. And the nationals is still a cheap weekend away, north islander bringing a van entry is only $75.00 and $150 for a passenger(s) each. That includes a cabin to stay in (or your van if you prefer), all meals (just turn up with a plate and cutlery), entertainment, and entry to the show. Sounds great I know, so send me your email address and I'll email you the entry pack.

Cheers Jeff

I'm feeling slightly pressured here. LOL
I would love to be there thanks, but will have to see how next year goes as I've spent rather a lot lately. So no promises. ;D
