I thought he needed a base to start with, a tired 6 could be replaced with a fresh V6 or 8.

Hey guys,

Thanks Warren for thinking of me! From everyone I've spoken to, (now tends to be only members of the Buga site!) they all guide me to a V8. Not being a mechanic, I'd prefer something already converted. I'm already afraid of the costs of adapting it to a bash, so worried about the extra costs from starting with a base.

I've been back and forth with the guy with the black lwb 350 Chev in New Zealand - trademe (shown in another previous post). Lovin this one. Just waiting for finalisation of all costs associated with importing to Melbourne. I'm able to get this one at a great price- especially with the great conversion rate in the Aussie dollar.  Anyone looked into importing before?

Adrian.

In a word .......... GOLD !!!

Be very careful with that. Aside from the fact it will cost you an arm and a leg to take it across the ditch you need to be aware that our laws around vehicle modification are nowhere as near as strict as yours. You will be taking quite a risk and there is every likelihood that you will not be allowed to drive it on the road till it has been inspected and I can just about guarantee you will have a lot of work ahead of you to get it compliant.

I would recommend finding something in Aus that is already certified.

Ben Yep got that stuff thanks mate.

Adrian, I don't see why a good 202 wouldnt do for the bash, Eddys got a fuel injected motor for sale at the moment, would bolt straight in (some minor mods to the cover I think) and some wiring.

Chris (Black Beddy) who I think has mostprobably the most experience on here with beddys has spoken of how a good 6 can preform as well a V8 - have a search for the grunt hunt thread.

The holden 6 motor is a mighty indestructable motor and has had some major horspower from them over the years.

While I have been a V8 fan set up right the 6 is strong reliable and economical.

Horses for coarses I suppose
