Brand new screen and door rubbers
« on: August 24, 2009, 06:03:40 PM »
Hi guys,
Some time ago I went into the Australian "Rare Spares" manual and found that they sold replacement windscreen and door seal kits for the CF.   ;D

I just went in and there is no sign of Bedford rubbers at all.   ???

Has anyone bought new rubbers and seals and if so, where did you get them from?

Mine are RS and I want to fit new ones.

Cheers

Neil

Wow thats incredible, Bought a set from rare spares earlier this month and am still waiting for them to turn up.
Hope i havent been jibbed.

There is a joint in Oakleigh in the burbs of Melbourne called Scotts Old Auto Rubbers.
http://www.scottsoldautorubber.com.au/
Bedford rubbers are at
http://www.scottsoldautorubber.com.au/BEDFORD%201977%20CFL%20VAN.htm
And what the cross section of the rubbers look like are at
http://www.scottsoldautorubber.com.au/ILLUSTRATION%20INDEX%20PART%20NUMBER.htm
Just look for the part number in the catalogue.

When i was initially sourcing rubbers i inquired and it came up to a touch under $400

Hope this helps.

Hi guys,
sorry about the late reply. I got a response from Rare Spares and they still carry the rubbers but not listed on the net.

They arrived yesterday and all looks good.

Cheers

Neil

Just ordered one from rare spares.  $166 !  Apparantly the last one as well.

Hopefully with rubber changed....and all the rust removed from between the gutter and windscreen i might actually be able to get this thing roadworthied!

Hi guys,
Here are the prices and details:
RDS 8031 Front Door Rubber for CF Bedford swinging door $38.25 each
WSF 115 Front Windscreen seal CF Bedford $128.93

Door Rubbers x2 and Windscreen rubber x1 = $240.10 incl freight and GST

This sort of makes me wonder if there is someway on this forum where we can have an excel spreadsheet for us to update with part numbers/replacement part costs and contact details.  That way everyone knows to go to the one spot to check for suppliers and what parts are available.
EG didn't I see somewhere that LJ Steering rack boots fit a CF steering rack?  This is important info and could be kept in one spot for future reference.

Cheers

Hey fellas, I've been looking into buying some new rubbers for my van also..
Is it possible that i can get some photos of the rarespares rubbers that you've just purchased, and if anyone has any spectrum/scotts rubbers can i get some photos of those too?

I want to know how well they fit, and what shape rubber they are supplying. I'd rather have the rubbers make a perfect seal and pay a little more than have something a little half assed. However if clark rubber cheapies work out to be just as good at the 'good' stuff I'll look into that too.

Thanks in advance!
Cheers,
Matte
