brake booster
« on: September 17, 2009, 06:09:53 PM »
hey guys i have a hz master cylinder in a bedford booster and there doesnt seem to be much assistance.checked vacume pipe its ok even the one way valve at booster and it seems to be ok too.but you have to push pretty hard to stop.has anyone else got this setup or would a bigger booster be a better idea?I need to get this sorted because there is no way it will pass a blue slip inspection.

try making sure the master sealing properly on the booster. booster was working great on the previous master cylinder.

cheers

the set up you have is similar to my set up and it works well for me. it sounds as if something isnt working correctly.
might want to do a few test before changing parts

you could remove the hose going to the booster (remembering to block it off) and see if it makes a difference
to the braking, this will determine if the booster is actually working. might want to check you have a strong
vacume coming from that hose while you have it off. good idea to test drive in a safe area.

you could test for any blockages by bleeding the brakes, you should have good flow from the calipers. restricted
lines could give you the same issue

the one way valve is on the right way (seen a few people make this easy mistake)

your booster should hold a vacume so if you where put a hose on it and suck on it, it should hold that vacume I
would think, never pesonally tested one this way before.

hopefuuly this should help you pin point the problem.

cheers, matty
And you thought owning a bedford was going to be easy.
