Cracked Upper Swing Arms
« on: May 26, 2009, 07:31:41 PM »
I found this post on a valiant web site and i have to agree with him.......

"With your suspension rebuild , don't use urathene/nolathene bushes in the upper control arm.It tends to make it too stiff and cracks the upper mounting points where they join the chassis rail. I have used rubber in the top control arm,"

Was at the wreckers today trying to find upper control arms, and the first four were cracked in the same place - oddly enough left hand side cracks at the back and right hand side cracks at the front so the look the same when they are off.

i threw four away last year with exactly the same crack and had two welded up but now i have found two without cracks (haha - how long before they crack?)

G'day

When you have your frontend apart it is worth a bit of preventative welding before it cracks.
The problem I have is that most of my stories end with... and that is why I am not allowed to go back there!
