i have put my 78 Bedford up for sale on Ebay. It has given me some of the best times and trips but has been sitting at the mechanics too long and I am living OS so I need to make sure that it gets to someone who can show it some TLC. It is on a 5 day auction which will finish this Sunday. Please check out the auction at http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/78-CF-Holden-Bedford-/160873371608?pt=AU_Cars&hash=item2574ccd7d8#ht_500wt_1288or look at item 160873371608. Thanks to all the great people on this site and I hope to speak to you again when I return to Aus and buy my next beddie. Happy travels

I'm currently changing from a supra 5 speed to a trimatic auto after my gearbox packed it in.(it will also be nice to have the wife occationally drive home now). Will also consider doing a trade for anyone looking at going from manual to auto for needed parts. My Mechanic has advised I need the following parts: trimatic gearbox (already have) flywheel flywheel bolts conveter bolts bell housing bolts oil cooler for transmission gear shift linkage crossmember transmission mount tail shaft yoke (for trimatic) Feel free to let me know if there is anything else I need. Advice always welcome as I'm not mechanically minded Thanks, Tony

Wanted: brake booster for "78 Bedford. My beddie now has a nearly constant hiss from near the foot pedal which gets worse when the brakes are applied. I'm unsure if that can be fixed but you can never be to careful with the brakes so if anyone can help me out in or near Melbourne drop me a message with price. Its got the 202 engine and is drums all round.
Thanks, Tony

Thx all for your replies,
I think I will stay with the 5 speed at the moment even though the idea of cruising in my beddie without the worry of having to change gears is very appealing.
Now comes the fun part, sourcing the parts I need and hoping that I can fix the clutch problem at the same time.

Hey all,
My supra 5 speed decided to die at the worst of times and now I have to replace my gearbox.
I'm looking at 2 options at the moment. Replace the gearbox with another 5 speed and try to fix the clutch from hell at the same time (ive already been through several clutch cables and am sick to death with a clutch that nearly breaks my leg every time I want to change gears), or to replace it with an auto.
I am tempted to go with the auto option but am concerned with what parts I need to get going from a manual to auto (gearstick, fittings, etc)and what difference it will make when cruising on the highway. My mechanic has told me that it will be a much cheaper option to just replace the 5 speed but do not want to be left with the same problems I have had. Any ideas?
Also, If anyone has any for sale in Melbourne drop me a note, thx
Thanks, Tony
p.s. I have the 202 red engine

thx all for reply. I think i'm at the point now where I could do with a proffesional opinion and without any welding skills i'm going to have to call in the experts for this one. If there is anyone in the melbourne area (the closer to brunswick the better) that can do this please drop me a message and give me some kind of guesstimate of how much it will cost and we organise a time. thanks again for alll the responses.

I'm running my beddie with the supra 5 speed conversion. And now after 3 cables in less than 2 years am over it. I believe the issue may be from the cable not having a straight run from the clutch peddle to the firewall. I have been told about the possibility of going hydrolic assisted clutch which, if it is an option i would like to look at if affordable. Also, is worth mentioning that the clutch peddle is hard enough to press at the best of times.
If you are a mechanic near Melbourne who can help or any advice would be much appreciated, Tonz
