Maintenance / Re: How To - keep back doors from opening
« on: August 14, 2014, 11:43:13 AM »
I had a LWB with a pretty hot 400 chev in it.......the van was a bare inside and rear barn doors.....however, after taking it out for it's first real flogging after doing the conversion from a 202 to a 400......i returned to find the rear doors no longer sitting level......the 400 had so much torque it caused the body frame to move so much that it created a missalingment of about an inch!!!!!!! so it was out with the welder and i boxed in the bottom section and made the top half a lift up hatch.

yes i get the forbidden message on my home pc and tablet.....never on my work PC as it deletes cookies everytime you leave the site.......as we have a slow connection at home, deleting cookies makes browsing a little slower.....i usually do it once a month

newer bedfords have a fuse box just under the dash on the right hand side tucked up and away.....older bedfords have inline fuses and no fuse box to speak of.

I would go the Chev option having had both a 253 and and a chev option in previous Beddys.....you can get engine mount adaptor plates so the Chev will bolt straight onto your holden 6cyl mounts....if you run a turbo 350/400 auto.....you will need to modify the transmission cross member or relocate about 3 inches back from the standard position.....i did a 6cyl to chev 400ci on a gravel driveway with a busted knee cap on my own.....easy peasy.....
