For Sale / LWB for sale
« on: April 07, 2017, 12:42:11 AM »
I'm putting my van on the market, Its Marty's old van that ive had for about 8 years.
Marty had a 350 chev and turbo 400 in it, the trans died but I still have 350 chev, I ran a 400 small block and tricked up turbo 700 that I probably wont sell with it as that combination owes me mega bucks.
The option will be turbo 400 or 700 as a drop in behind the 350 chev or your own combo. It has 12 bolt rear end and disc brakes up front, Ive put a f100 radiator in it.
She will need rebuilding as paint is tired but could be still driven if wanted after drive line done.
I had bought fibre glass bits from Ben but never got around to doing anything with it as I drove it as a daily for approximately 2 years before I put in the shed and never got back to it. (fibre glass dash, rear door, wheel arches like shorty van, front wheel arch flairs)
Looking for $5,000
Van is in a shed 100km away from where I live and im going there this weekend, If anyone serious I will take photos for you.
cheers

For Sale / 3 Vans for Sale
« on: September 21, 2010, 08:48:20 PM »
Hi,
I have put a van on ebay, south australian rego.
Have a SWB body for resto, no engine no gearbox.
Gutters do need some work but not too bad, gutter accrosss front window the worst.
No interior, but dash still in it.
$800
Marty's windowless LWB van Ive had for a while is up for sale too, will be sold with chevy motor an less gearbox as the one in it has cost
me a bucket load....... DONT ASK!!!!
There will be an option of 2 tail shafts, one for a T400 trans that Marty had in it or a T700 shaft. Im running a T700 Trans at the moment.
Think its a chevy 12 bolt diff running singles (big and looks like a chevy, an has 12 bolts on rear plate.
2 gas tanks.
Body is in gr8 shape, some small spots of rust in lower seams but looks ok to walk past(no holes or big spots). Roof is good and gutters are
in gr8 condition even accross front window.
Interior is basic (just a big hollow drum) but does have good buckets seats.
Has Ben's fibreglass rear door skin and his dash but not fitted (too busy driving it to take time to fit them)
$8000
Cheers

A big hello to you Ben, and im glad your still here to tell that horrific story.
My thoughts are with you Ben and also too Steve with his incident, all the best for a speedy recovery to full health.

I had a near miss using a drill 2 weeks ago, instead of clamping a short peice of steel to drill a 12mm hole i had placed it on a peice of wood and stood on it ..... it grabbed and unbalanced me, one step sideways to gain my balance BUT there wasnt anything to stand on........ down the pit i went but got hooked up on a step ladder at the end of the pit leaving me upside down.

Please be carfull everyone and try not to take any short cuts, these to guys have suffered too much and this is a timely reminder as to how easy things can go wrong.
Take care Ben

Diffs / Re: Transit dual wheel diff
« on: September 25, 2009, 06:08:02 PM »
Hey Bas, thanks for your input. The T700 is meant to be an overdrive box and this one will have lockup in 4th too.
I am now trying to find 15 or 16 inch rims for the transit diff as larger wheels will gear it up too.
I havnt heard about the Pontiac diff fitting bedford, any idea as to what year Pontiac this might be.
Thanks again Bas for your info.

Diffs / Transit dual wheel diff
« on: September 24, 2009, 09:48:14 PM »
Hi All,
Does anyone know anything about the old transit van dual wheel diff from i think the 70's era.
How strong are they compared to bedford diffs?
I'm looking for a strong dual wheel highway diff for towing and have found a transit that i might be able to get.
The back plate on the diff has 12 bolts, its slightly oval shaped but symmetrical and looks biggish.
Anyone know what ratio they are and if it would handle a 400 chev, i will be using a t700 auto so will have overdrive.
Any other ideas as to what diff i could use; I'm hoping for a 3.5 or 3.7 ish ratio.
Was trying to get a f350 diff but most have been around 4.1 or 4.5 and think it will rev too hard on highway. F350's use large diameter tyres and i was going to use low profile tyres if using this one, the 400 chev has been built for low revs.
Any help appreciated
Cheers Lewy
