Driveline / Auto Tanny

Hey Guys,

looking for some input around what auto tranny people are using of have used in the past in bedfords.

Thinking just a regular 3 speed will be fine?

Im just sick of the dramas with linkages and city traffic and auto will make more sense.

whats the do and donts?

thanks guys.

Arrrggghhh whaleoilbeefhooked shez routed giver t me :)

on a more serious note if you have just put in a new gearbox, then as phil suggested its jumped the gate and got both third and reverse (or first) are engaged at the same time.

Get under the van, disconnect the linkages at one end and move the selector arms till yo find neutral. Now reconnect the first/second gear linkage, look at the shifter mechanism and ensure the first and second gear gate is adjusted to the center, then do the same for the 3rd & 4th gate and reverse.

This should have you changing gears OK, if there is a lot of slack in your linkage arms/shifter then it could happen again.

Check out this 3 speed shifter thread for info on how to tighten up and re enforce the shifter, almost the same for the 4 speed.

Thanks Wazza, I will give that a go tomorrow arvo and fingers crossed.

Cheers mate.

Driveline / Stuck In Gear
« on: December 10, 2012, 02:17:15 PM »
Hey Guys,

I moved house over the weekend (richmond-prahran) and after a long day it came time to move the old girl. After putting in a new 4 speed and new battery i was feeling positive in getting her the 5 k's to her new home.

But of course she had other ideas.

Coming up Williams road she got stuck in third stalled and then locked up and blocked off traffic. After looking over it all and not being ale to 'pop' her out of gear the pressure of crazy rich suites in there bmw coupe's yelling abuse broke me and a tow truck was called.

Now I am hoping that one of you amazing people could give me an insight in what could be the issue (diff gone? linkages?) and what my best option is as she obversely doesn't roll anywhere.

Thanks Guys,

Rossco.

the connection is completely different as per this photo.

when i received the van it was simply screwed in by a cover but no connection was being made.

Cheers,
